It’s still warm here in Texas, but the temperatures have lowered closer to 90 than 110. I wore one of my favorite new Amazon finds on a cooler, rainy day last week – a turtleneck drawstring waist pullover. I love everything about this top, especially the...
I am excited about an upcoming trip to Mexico in May with my girlfriends. I’ve already started packing, and I wanted to share what I am taking in case you need inspiration for a bathing suit. It’s been a while since I’ve bought myself a new bathing...
I’ve pulled together my fall-style faves to help you get your wardrobe ready for pumpkin picking, wine tasting, and football games. Did you happen to read my Closet Class post from last week or watch my class on Instagram? Be sure to check out the important...
I’m headed back to Maine on April 1 for season two as #MelissaINNMaine. I can’t wait to get back to Ogunquit! For the next two weeks, I am working on packing my bags to prepare for my seven-month stint managing The Blue Shutters Inn. Over my break at...
I am excited to introduce you to Fort Worth’s newest entrepreneur, Heidi Lemelin, proprietor of The Branded Brim Hat Co. I first met Heidi when she was a student worker in my office at TCU. Since her graduation from TCU in 2021, Heidi became a licensed real...
I can’t believe it’s the first day of June and my second month anniversary in Ogunquit. Over the weekend we grilled hotdogs, made my baked beans, and sat outside enjoying the crazy gorgeous weather. I’ve finally settled into a routine and wanted to...
Hospitality is in my DNA. I founded Home with a Twist, a daughter’s twist on her mother’s traditions, in memory of my mother to celebrate her life and the gifts she shared with me. Mother loved to celebrate life’s occasions – big and small.
She taught me how to prepare fabulous food, entertain guests with style and design a traditional home with a pop of color and a splash of animal print. Share my fondness of blending Mother’s mid-century style with a modern spin.
Take a pinch of ginger from a Georgian townhouse. Parsley from a Queen Anne villa. And a dash of pepper from your Swiss chalet!
Last fall, I set my timer for the launch day of the @lenox Village Spice Jars. My wait is over when they arrived this week!
Originally designed and sold in 1989, the set was released through a subscription model, with customers receiving a new spice house each month. The jars were meant to house the most popular cooking spices of the era.
Interest in the collectibles began to dip, and Lenox discontinued the spice jar series in 1993.
Lenox brought the village back for a limited time and includes 24 porcelain spice jars pastel hand-painted to look like miniature cottages. They go perfectly with my thrifted shelf from Lemons to Lemonade Estate Sales hanging in my keeping room.
Seriously. Which would you rather have - darkness at 4 p.m. or lose an hour, and you feel jet lagged for a week. Oh, well. It just means spring is coming! 🍀🌿☘️
My home was built in 2000 when TVs were ginormous. Hence, the built-in hole in the wall. It`s always bothered me, but it`s in our upstairs bonus room, so I`ve lived with it.
But recently, I added a shelf from another room, added lamps, vintage keepsakes, all belonging to my mother, and her gorgeous bluebonnet painting by artist Eleanor Greene.
Ironically, the TV stopped working right after I finished this project so I`m buying a new one.🤣 But at least they bluebonnets will be the first thing you see, and not the TV.
Do you change your linens for the seasons? I like to play with color, texture, and layers to create a boutique hotel vibe in my bedroom.
Definitely, in the spring and summer, I need lighter weight linens to stay cool. In the fall and winter, I love to cover up with lots of soft, warm layers.
Between seasons, I wash everything and store the linens in zippered bags to store away from dust so they`re fresh and ready for my bed.
