I recently set the table for a small lunch I’m planning with my friends Tracy and Renee. My inspiration for what I am calling my Daisies & Denim comes from the sunflowers growing in my front yard. My daddy loved sunflowers and enjoyed planting new seeds every spring. The last five years of his life, he and my mother lived with us. The first summer after he passed away, to my surprise, sunflowers popped up in our garden. The surprise – he had not planted any for several years, as it was difficult for him to walk. I know they are his gift to us each year as a sign that he is watching over us.

I gathered up my Metlox Poppytrail Daisy dinner plates and the Blue Danube snack set and began layering pieces with some new Pioneer Woman placemats and napkins I found at Walmart. I created a set of blue and white gingham placecards, which you can find in my digital store here, and paired them with a set of placecard holder vases filled with flowers from my garden, which I discovered several years ago at Magnolia Home in Waco.  The centerpiece is a yellow frosted water pitcher filled with sunflowers from the garden. And I finished it off with bamboo flatware and vintage green and yellow glasses. I’ve linked most everything here.

A little denim, a handful of daisies, and a whole lot of heart.

As I set my Daisies & Denim tablescape, I fondly recalled the wildflowers that once danced across my parents’ prairie fields at our farm. A weekend getaway for our family, filled with acres of land, seasonal celebrations, stunning sunsets, and gorgeous sunrises.  It’s a blend of sentimental and simple, exactly how I love to host. Because when you start with intention, every table becomes a memory.
