Mr. Twist and I are heading out on August 2 for a month in Maine, and I’d like to take you along with me! If you are new to Home with a Twist, you may not know that for two seasons in 2022-2023, I managed a bed and breakfast in Ogunquit, Maine. After retiring from a 25-year position as an event producer, I accepted a dream job of a lifetime, packing my bags to live by the sea and greet guests from all over the world. This time, Mr. Twist and I are returning to Maine as vacationers! We are renting a cottage in South Addison, Maine.

This will be a different part of Maine than we have visited before, so we are excited about the adventure of discovering new places. This charming oceanside cottage, overlooking Eastern Harbor, offers clear water views and easy access to the water’s edge for boat launching or beachcombing via a 60-yard shore road. Located in an isolated fishing village, the cottage is only ninety minutes northeast of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and thirty minutes southwest of Machias..
For the month of August, I plan to change things up on my Instagram and chronicle my daily activities. Mr. Twist has excitedly planned our itinerary, and I’m eager to see what he has in store. I know it will include a blueberry festival, whale watching, hiking, and hunting for seaglass and shells. And, of course, we plan to eat our weight in fresh lobster, caught fresh daily from the boat.
