With fashion, we all start at home plate and our first goal is to make it to 1st base….right? I have to admit, a midi skirt is my 1st base style. When I add a shirt tied at the waist and add a pair of sandals…I know I have a hit. Maybe your 1st base style is a cute striped dress matched with red sandals….or possibly white jeans paired with a striped shirt, a wicker bag and sneakers! Sounds like a base hit to me!
When stepping up to home plate, do you ever feel a little style/base anxiety? Don’t worry…because I’m giving you a “walk”! Sneakers are a comfortable option, or a pair of slides will add a trendy pop to your basic style. In my opinion, espadrilles are the perfect summer shoe. By adding a cute pair of sneakers, slides or espadrilles to your basic style…..you will be rounding the all the bases before you know it!
I have to admit, with my creative styling….sometimes I strike out. But please know, it never discourages me from taking another swing. We love how the “Poor Little It Girl” blogger takes a swing, warming up to her second base style wearing an adorable red print dress. And she hits a double when she pairs it with white sneakers and a denim jacket embellished with miniature pins/brooches. No strikes for this stylish gal!
True confession: Something that gives me a thrill is “stealing” bases! Show me a cute outfit or accessory from Pinterest…and it’s “game on”! An easy summer look I recently stole features a white linen skirt paired with a blue and white striped shirt tied at the waist. A pair of wooden ark earrings I purchased at Forever 21 for $8 was definitely a steal compared to the $100 designer pair I copied! And my favorite summer steal is my white bucket bag from Amazon Fashion….$50 vs. the $345 designer copy.
Want to be a “triple” threat? Then think about adding a wicker belt and sunshades to your base style. Any belt from Cult Gaia will take your style to third base. If you are like me and looking for a frugal find, check out some great options online from Forever 21 and ASOS. We love how a wicker belt gives a sophisticated resort vibe when matched with a white halter dress. A cool pair of sunshades is definitely a smooth way to slide into home plate. And wearing a pair of red shades says one thing to me….home run!
So here’s the play-by-play….by pairing a few trendy accessories with your basic style, you’ll have a stylish grand-slam! Game over y’all!!!
