I can’t believe it’s the first day of June and my second month anniversary in Ogunquit.  Over the weekend we grilled hotdogs, made my baked beans, and sat outside enjoying the crazy gorgeous weather. I’ve finally settled into a routine and wanted to share my Maine Favorites.

What I’m wearing

When I packed for the move from Texas to Maine, I brought three seasons of clothes – jeans, sweaters, shorts, t-shirts, and dresses. I knew by the end of April that the sweaters would make the trip back home in May.  I just get too warm doing breakfast service and running around the property to comfortably wear sweaters.  Lately, I have been sporting shorts and t-shirts. On the occasional cool days, I kept a few lightweight sweaters and hoodies I add to the mix.  Ogunquit is a seaside casual town that I totally embrace.  The mornings start cool and by the afternoon I am switching into shorts or a cute breezy dress for our afternoon happy hours with guests.  There are some great outlet stores nearby and I saved a lot of money putting together outfits from J.Crew, Talbots, and Old Navy.

The bracelet is from Designs by Laurel Leigh. I have shopped with Laurel for several years now.  My first purchase was the large gold bead necklace I am wearing in the photo on my website. Laurel designs and makes all of her jewelry by hand, and it is of the highest quality. I couldn’t resist the red, white, and blue Chinoiserie bracelet here.  I love supporting small, women-owned businesses. Laurel is offering my HWT followers a 10% off discount on your purchase using code HELLOJUNE.  Promo code good through June 5.

Here’s another outfit perfect for a picnic at the beach and afterward at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. The melamine cups and plates are adorable, don’t you think? And if the days are cool – I can pop on a jean jacket over the dress.

Where I am eating

Believe it or not, Ogunquit has tons of award-winning restaurants, and many are within walking distance of the Inn.  I love walking down to Perkins Cove which looks just like the set of Murder, She Wrote.

Boats docked in Perkins Cove.

A fun place to eat is Foot Bridge Lobster. A walkup counter serves the best-buttered Lobster rolls and french fries. Their fishing boat leaves early each morning to bring back fresh lobster for the menu. Nothing is ever frozen. I hopped on the back of Laurence’s scooter one Sunday afternoon and we motored right up the window at the counter to place our order!

What I am working on

I really enjoy walking around our properties picking flowers to create centerpieces for the Inn and the dining tables. During the month of May, we enjoyed profuse lilac blooms in shades of purple, lavender, and white. I shared a reel on Instagram showing the proper way to prepare lilacs as a long-lasting cutting flower. June will bring peonies and poppies.

So many guests commented how the unmistakable scent of the lilacs reminded them of their childhood. The best part, is the lilacs are right outside the door to my room!
