Hospitality is in my DNA. I founded Home with a Twist, a daughter’s twist on her mother’s traditions, in memory of my mother to celebrate her life and the gifts she shared with me. Mother loved to celebrate life’s occasions – big and small.

She taught me how to prepare fabulous food, entertain guests with style and design a traditional home with a pop of color and a splash of animal print. Share my fondness of blending Mother’s mid-century style with a modern spin.

This week, don`t worry so much about impressing your guests. Instead, ask yourself one simple question:

How can I help someone leave a little lighter than they came?

Your guests feel lighter not because the meal was elaborate. Not because your house looked perfect. Not because the table was set with heirloom china.

But because they felt seen. They laughed. They exhaled. They were served. They remembered what it feels like to belong.

The greatest gift we can offer isn`t a flawless home—it`s a safe place where people can set down the weight they`ve been carrying, even if it`s only for an evening.

I have a feeling they`ll remember that long after they`ve forgotten what was served for dinner.

❤️ I`d love to hear from you. Has someone ever made you feel lighter just by welcoming you into their home?

Hi! 👋 I`m Melissa and I love a good wine cooler - how about you?

Remember the summers of Fresca back in the day? Suntan oil (aka Crisco), Sun In spray that turned our hair orange, and lazy days sipping Fresca or TAB.

I mixed Fresca with a `22 Carignan California from my California Mixer box from @ingoodtastewines. The perfect 6 oz size just for my mini Fresca. Comment WINE and I`ll send you a $10 off promo code.

Join me for a fun summer of sips. Scroll through my reels for the wine cooler recipe. It`s pinned toward the top.

My cute Americana cups are from @catherinewhite.art.❤️🤍💙

Comment VASE and I`ll send you the link to my new favorite vase. 🌼

One of the must-haves items for a host is having a variety of vases. One size does not fit all - until I found this one!🌸

The placement of the holes naturally allow the stems to stand up and keep the arrangement full. Think of it as the "frog" we sometimes use in an arrangement.🏵

And right now it`s 20% off and under $20. Makes the perfect gift.🌱

Nothing makes me happier than creating a centerpiece with flowers from my garden!🪻🌻

My dining table isn`t waiting for a dinner party... it`s living a full life every single day.

Interior designers are saying the days of the formal, untouched dining room are fading. Instead, our dining rooms are becoming spaces that reflect how we actually live—reading, creating, working, gathering, and surrounding ourselves with things we love.

That`s why you`ll find mine layered with vintage cookbooks, coffee table books, found treasures from antique shops, fresh flowers, and touch lamps that makes the whole room glow, even when no one`s coming for dinner.

I think a beautifully styled dining table invites you to enjoy your home every day—not just on holidays.

Your dining room shouldn`t feel like a museum. It should tell your story.

Do you decorate your dining table between meals, or do you keep it cleared off?

P.S. my pretty dress is from @shoplemoncake. Comment DRESS and I`ll send you the link to shop.
