November: A Month of Abundance
Oct 27, 2016 | (Mrs. Twist Reads This)
Every November I relish in reading Ann Voskamp’s books. She’s a New York Times best selling author and I’ve written about her before. You may be familiar with her last two books: One Thousand Gifts and Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family...
Hospitality is in my DNA. I founded Home with a Twist, a daughter’s twist on her mother’s traditions, in memory of my mother to celebrate her life and the gifts she shared with me. Mother loved to celebrate life’s occasions – big and small. She taught me how to prepare fabulous food, entertain guests with style and design a traditional home with a pop of color and a splash of animal print. Share my fondness of blending Mother’s mid-century style with a modern spin.

Comment HOST and I`ll send you my Summer Entertaining Guide. 🍅
In my early hosting years, I let perfection drive my decisions. An unfamiliar menu. A spotless house. Details no one would notice.
But by the time my guests arrived, I was too tired to truly enjoy myself.
Hosting isn`t about the perfect plan. It`s about being present to enjoy the people.
What`s one thing you`ve stopped stressing over when you have people over? Tell me below 👇

Comment SKIN and I`ll send you the links for all the @rodanandfields pro-aging products I`ll be trying.
You know that moment when you realize your skincare is actually working? Welcome to Rodan + Fields. Designed by two dermatologists who know how to formulate for women’s skin.
My mother had NONE of this - just cold cream and a prayer!
Follow my stories everyday June 23-July 21 to see the results!

When was the last time you made yourself the tray?
We butter the toast. Sprinkle the cinnamon. Add the cloth napkin. Carry it to the guest room.
But what about you?
40 years of hosting taught me this: the way you treat your guests should be the way you treat yourself.
You deserve the fancy tray too. 💛
Tell me below — what`s one small thing you do to make yourself feel like a guest in your own home?
Comment DINNER and I`ll send you one of my favorite dinners from my mother`s recipe box.
Poppyseed Chicken is so good! It`s also one of the easiest casseroles to prepare and easily serves six if you want to invite friends over. It`s even better the next day.
Serve with steamed broccoli, microwave rice (my shortcut) and tomatoes from my garden.
Dinner doesn`t have to be complicated.
Happy hosting!
